About Us:
Bengal Stars Sports Academy (BSSA) was formed in April 2015 by the present committee due to the circumstances of there being a gap in which the Palfrey, Caldmore, St Matthews, Pleck and surrounding areas didn’t have amateur academy for sports. The founding members of BSSA decided to do something about this and after a discussion with other like-minded and enthusiastic individuals it was decided BSSA would be formed to provide a platform for aspiring children participate in sports.
Bengal Stars historically has been in existence since 1984 as a football team, participating and winning numerous league and domestic cups in various amateur Sunday leagues in and around the West Midlands.
The founding members of Bengal Stars Sports Academy (BSSA) are Chairman: Shafique Miah, Vice Chairman: Muhammad Shahab Uddin, Club Executive Secretary: Jakir (Jay) Hussain, Assistant Secretary: Muhammed Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer: Suruk Miah, Assistant Treasurer: Iliyas Khandakar, Team Manager: Abdul Shahed, Assistant Team Manager: Jakir (Jay) Hussain, Executive Member: Moyna Miah, Membership Secretary: Motin Khan
Our aim is to provide a youth sports academy for young people aged between 7 and 16 without distinction of sex, political religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities. We are a voluntary organisation with a common effort to improve the physical and economic conditions of life in the Walsall area. We aim to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for youth development with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Bengal Stars Sports Academy members, families and youth players between the ages of 7 and 16.
BSSA is non-party in politics and non-sectarian religion.
BSSA were successful with their application for the FA affiliation and currently have FA qualified coaches, FA qualified safeguarding/welfare officers and FA accredited First Aid Officers. Against a background of reduced (and reducing numbers) of amateur sports academies, it is hoped that with continued hard work and development at both the junior and youth sections BSSA will continue to flourish.
